Alexandra Kontos holds an LL.B from Addis Ababa university and an LL.M from University College London. She has qualified as an Advocate in three jurisdictions and has practised in Kenya as a corporate and commercial lawyer since 1979. She is one of the founding partners of the Firm and is now Senior Partner of Walker Kontos.

Trained initially in civil law, she made the switch to a common law jurisdiction and specialises in corporate and commercial work with particular emphasis on banking and corporate finance.

She has variously advised on all kinds of banking and financial transactions such as project financing, loan syndications and loan securitisation. She also specialises in mergers and acquisitions, particularly those involving transactions relating to Banks operating in Kenya where she has acted in all but one of the mergers and acquisitions under the new banking legislation.

Alexandra has advised in the establishment of international joint ventures, corporate restructuring, management buy-outs, structured and trade finance and others. She is also an experienced conveyancer having worked on numerous housing schemes.

As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya Chapter) she has acted in various arbitration matters in Kenya.
