Diana joined the firm in 2004 and her areas of specialisation include corporate and commercial work, with a particular emphasis on energy and infrastructure projects, capital markets, conveyancing and property law, employment law, banking law, and insurance law.  Her areas of practice extend to mergers and acquisitions she has been involved in cross-border transactions in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Nigeria.  Diana has also successfully trained as a Certified Public Accountant and a Company Secretary.  Recent notable transactions:

  • Advising Hewani Energy, a subsidiary of Seriti Green, in the proposed development of Meru County Energy Park, a PPP initiative with Meru County. This project will be Africa’s first utility-scale, grid-connected hybrid electricity which aims to provide up to 220MW of clean, sustainable renewable energy.

  • Advising in the Rights Issue undertaken by Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited (KenGen) to raise upto K.Shs.28billion. This is the largest single rights issue in Kenya to date. In addition, the participation of the Government of Kenya by way of a conversion of loans on-lent to the Issuer added a unique twist to the transaction both in terms of approvals and transaction documentation.

  • Advising as Kenyan Counsel Société de Promotion et de Participation pour la Coopération Economique (PROPARCO), Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation (Finnfund) and Investeringsfonden for Udviklingslande (ÏFU) in relation to the equity investment through convertible redeemable preference shares in African Education Holdings, a holding company in Mauritius, with several subsidiaries across Africa in the education sector.  The assignment included advising the client on Kenya Competition law requirements and procuring the approval of the Competition Authority of Kenya. 

  • Advising Airtel Networks Kenya Limited on the regulatory approvals required from the COMESA Competition Commission, Communications Authority of Kenya and Competition Authority of Kenya in order to effect the proposed transfer of certain assets from Telkom Kenya Limited to Airtel Networks Kenya Limited.

  • Part of the Firm’s legal team, as Kenyan counsel to a lead arranger in connection with loan facilities to be provided by a consortium of lenders for the financing of two lots under the Kenya Roads Annuity Programme.

Diana has been recognised by Legal 500 as being able to ‘combine an excellent understanding of the law with business sense’ and was ranked in the Women’s Top4under40 (2015 edition).
